Northern Uganda’s film industry is set to make history with the inaugural Northern Uganda Film Awards (NUFA), a grand event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the outstanding contributions of filmmakers in the region. This prestigious occasion will take place on April 26, 2025, at Acholi Inn, bringing together actors, directors, producers, and film enthusiasts for a night of honor and appreciation.
The journey to this landmark celebration begins with the Nomination Night on March 22, 2025, at Club Legacy, Lira City. This will be an exciting moment as the region’s finest creatives will receive recognition for their remarkable work in various categories, highlighting the talent and passion that fuel the growth of the local film industry.
One of the most anticipated categories in this year’s awards is Best Costume Design, a tribute to the creative geniuses who bring characters to life through wardrobe, fabric, and intricate detailing. Costume designers play a vital role in storytelling, ensuring that every thread and color choice adds depth to a character’s identity and the film’s overall aesthetic. To bring out the best experience from the region, the Awards also intends to have nominees work together with fashion designers from the region to design outfits that celebrate Northern Uganda’s unique culture.
